Updated: Sep 6, 2023

As in most Latin American countries, in Ecuador the cities where there are more expatriates who come for work, are Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca. This depends a lot on where the companies are located according to their geographical needs.

At the foot of the Pichincha Volcano is the oldest capital of South America, Quito, administrative and governmental center of Ecuador, It is a city that receives a good number of emigrants every year who have decided to leave for work and where the tourism sector is highly developed and offers good employment opportunities. If you want to study, the city has very good universities.

Usually, the oil companies are located in the Amazon, However, the companies place their expatriate professionals in the capital of the Republic of Quito and from where they can easily move to internal areas of the country to visit the oil camps.

However, there is a high percentage of multinational companies that are located in the city of Guayaquil, such as companies of mass consumption, shrimp companies, tuna, and fishing in general.

The most populated city in Ecuador, the most important port in the country and the engine of its economy, is Guayaquil, a city that offers excellent employment opportunities to expats, as well as in trade or export and is one of the cities of the continent that provides greater facilities for the creation of new businesses.

Finally, we mention Cuenca, the Athens of Ecuador, whose historic center was declared a World Heritage Site in 1999, since it is one of the cities with the greatest contribution to the sciences, letters and arts of the entire continent. The commercial sector together with education represents the main pillars of economic activity. Working and studying in Cuenca offers expats an incomparable framework and quality of life.
